Family Care

We unequivocally believe that children belong in families. Therefore, we strive to strengthen parents, equip single mothers, and restore broken bonds so children can grow up safe, taught, and loved at home.

Family Preservation

When a family is under pressure, separation can feel like the only option. Our local teams intervene early with home care visits, counseling, and a simple, time-bound plan that addresses the real barriers. Support may include short term food assistance, help with rent or utilities, and school costs so children are not pulled out of class. Local churches surround the family with prayer, mentors, and community.

Local teams know the pressures families face and care for their neighbors as their own. In a nation where roughly seven in ten people identify as Christian and many marriages are customary rather than formally registered, pastors and elders are trusted to step in early with counsel and mediation; we come alongside them with practical support so children can remain at home.

Single-Mother Empowerment: Esther’s Hope

Across Ghana, many mothers are left to raise children alone through death or desertion. Without steady income, some face impossible choices: placing a child in an orphanage or trusting promises of work in the fishing industry around Lake Volta that too often lead to exploitation. Esther’s Hope changes that equation by creating a path to dignified work at home.

Through Esther’s Hope, single mothers learn sewing and other artisan skills, receive materials, and gain access to a reliable market for their goods. They are discipled in Christ, coached in simple business practices, and supported by local church mentors. As income becomes steady, families stay housed, children remain in school, and moms lead their homes with confidence.

The program’s name carries a story. In 2014, after the loss of one of Esther’s twins, she testified to the hope she had found in Jesus through the women’s Bible studies. Her words confirmed the name “Esther’s Hope,” a reminder that skill, income, and faith grow together.

Today, mothers in Esther’s Hope are paid fair wages for their work and supported by a community that cares about their families. The goal is simple and strong: keep families together, strengthen local churches, and ensure children grow up at home with their moms.

Reunification and Local Adoption

These are tender stories, so we speak about them with care. Our local team and church partners are trained in child protection and trauma-aware care. When conditions are safe and stable, we help children return to their family. When that is not possible, we pursue vetted local adoption so a child can grow up in a permanent family within their own culture. Privacy and dignity guide everything we share. Families are never pressured, and follow up helps maintain stability lasting growth.

Impact to date: 103 children have been safely and successfully reunited with their families and 20 children have joined permanent families through local adoption. Each of these numbers represents a child at home, in school, and surrounded by people who love them.
